Tufa cast sterling silver ring with a three-dimensional butterfly perched atop, balancing a perfect rounded piece of turquoise. Tufa is a compressed volcanic ash material. When casting, the artist hand-carves a design into tufa stone – creating a negative space for molten metal to be poured. The use of tufa creates a beautiful, earthy pebble like texture on the silver. Stamped “CORDELL 24” on the inside.
Cordell Pajarito of Kewa Pueblo (Santo Domingo Pueblo), born in 1988, is the grandson of esteemed jeweler Mary Lovato and second-son of Anthony Lovato. Cordell has been inspired by his father, grandmother, and older brother Joel.
