Maria Romero Cash is a native-born Hispanic raised in Santa Fe, the daughter of prominent traditional tin-work artists, the late Senaida and Emilio Romero. Marie has become a leading authority on the Santero tradition in New Mexico. As an artist, she distinguishes herself by bringing together a vast knowledge of traditional art forms with a zeal for exploration and innovation. She is able to maintain a reverence for the ancestry and tradition of the art forms, while at the same time, inject them with a contemporary sensibility born of worldliness, and the maturity of a developed artist.
